The African American Visual Artists Guild (AAVAG), of Dayton, Ohio, was born out of the need to express visually the African American experience through a wide range of styles and subject matter using many diverse approaches and materials with a focus on communicating the artist's own spirituality.

We represent and support the creative diversity of the African community and it's relationship with contemporary society.

National Conference of Artists

The National Conference of Artists is the oldest continuously operating African American arts organization in the United States, founded in 1959.  The New York chapter formed in 1973 and our current organizational structure, National Conference of Artists New York Inc. formed in 2005.  The NCA mission is to preserve and develop the creative forces and expressions of African American Artists.  Further, it proposes to organize Black artists into a cohesive unit, to improve their position in America and the world at large.

The Alliance was organized to promote growth and foster the development of programs that increase visibility, marketability, and stability of African American arts organizations and artists.  The Alliance is a primary source of technical assistance and shared resources.  Our board of directors consists of individual artists and leaders of art organizations working together to pursue excellence in all aspects of our organization.
